Discussion with author Eric Toussaint and economist Michael Roberts
This book is an alternative to the narrative spun by the mainstream media, the creditors, and Yanis Varoufakis in his book Adults in the Room. Toussaint argues that instead of calling upon the people’s support, Varoufakis and Tsipras spent far too much time in lengthy negotiations which only resulted in more concessions. He discusses the implications of the Greek experience for the left and for potential radical governments.
Eric Toussaint coordinated the work of the Audit Committee set up by the President of the Hellenic Parliament in 2015. Toussaint is an economist and the spokesperson of the Committee for the Abolition of Illegitimate Debt (CADTM).
Michael Roberts is an economist. He has written the preface to Greece 2015 and is the author of several books including “The Great Recession – a Marxist view” (2009) and “The Long Depression” (2016).
“Greece 2015: there was an alternative” is available here from Resistance books.
