CADTM international network (present in 30 countries, www.cadtm.org) denounces the “invasion” of ERT (the public television channel in Greece) by police forces and brings once again its support to the greek people.
With the “invasion” of the special police units to ERT premises, on November the 7th, 2013, the government completes an absolute coup against mass information and democracy, launched on June 11th, 2013. These police units known as “units for the reinstatement of order” have special equipment to suppress demonstrations - shields, rubber clubs, helmets, body protection, service weapon, gas masks and tear gas.
Two days after government’s “gift” to the private channels owners, granting new digital licenses free of charge, the memorandum government of PASOK and NEW DEMOCRACY parties, operating completely illegally, has added a black page to the history of the Public Television and the Democracy in Greece.
Once again the dilemma democracy or memorandum with the Troike is becoming crucial.
The greek people will stand against the abolition of the legality , the undermining of the Democracy and will defend its dignity and liberties.
We demand the immediate withdrawal of the police forces from the premises of ERT and the return of the building to its employees.
The CADTM stands for the abolition of the illegitimate debt of Greece towards the Troika
