The Moroccan State will be held fully responsible for any physical or psychological harm to the Rif and Hirak detainees or those that are close to them.
ATTAC CADTM Morocco is following with great concern health condition of Rif Hirak’s detainees due to their hunger strike which has been going on for more than 20 days. Some of them have even refused to drink water for six days.
The situation of the detainees is a direct result of the repressive campaigns of the Moroccan State which targeted the peaceful social movement in the Rif region and its refusal to respond to the legitimate social demands of the population and its youth.
The state is continuing its harassment of Rif’s prisoners with very humiliating methods. He wants revenge on honest activists who have made great sacrifices for the future of their region, their homeland and their people.
Giving the above, ATTAC CADTM Morocco declares to national and international public opinion the following:
The Moroccan State assumes full responsibility for any damage that may impact the physical and psychological integrity of the detainees or their relatives.
We demand the immediate release of all Rif detainees and the concellation of all charges and convictions.
We renew our full and unconditional solidarity with the detainees and their families in their trial and our global support for all the legitimate demands of the Rif inhabitants.
The critical humanitarian situation of the Rif detainees today requires the mobilization of all militant organizations in order to save the lives of activists whose only sin is the struggle for just social demands.
